Venice is a “Small” Town Best Place to Retire or Live in Florida
Venice, FL – Venice, FL is definitely one place you should consider if you’re shopping for a place to retire in Florida. Venice is a place with a small town feel and a sense of community (which is rare in transient Florida with so many moving in and out every day). The historic beach town is also safer than most places in Florida with beaches. This beautiful town is located on Florida’s west coast, north of Fort Myers and south of Tampa.
The town is broken into two distinct areas by the inter coastal waterway. The “Island of Venice” with fairly pricy island-feel homes, condos, parks, beaches and wonderful old downtown with interesting shops and great restaurants and many festivals on the side and the much larger mainland section.
The mainland provides a wide variety of homes and condos, golf courses, shopping centers and anything else you could want. Some of the housing available here can be very reasonable. The area is safe and has a very relaxed pace. You can certainly enjoy the Florida Lifestyle in Venice. A must visit: Sharky’s on the beach! Great beach restaurant with tiki bar and a fishing pier that goes out over the clear, gentle warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The also have a large observation deck on the restaurants roof.
The Island of Venice has many different beach areas and parks. Most are connected by miles of paved bike and pedestrian pathways. Venice Florida is one of my personal favorite places in Florida and I’ve visited nearly everywhere while living for fourteen years in the state.
If you are looking for a great place to retire in Florida, or even if you’re younger, Venice Florida is one of the safest, least expensive places to live the Florida lifestyle complete with golf courses and beaches. Lower retirement or starter Home and condo prices can be found in the area, all they way up to million dollar waterfront and boating access properties.
